Caterpillar Inc. has introduced the C3.4B,
C4.4 ACERT (shown here) and the C6.6 ACERT, the
three latest additions to its Stage 3b/Tier 4 interim
industrial diesel engine range. The three new models cover an output band from 45 to 130 k W.
Caterpillar Inc.has introduced the C3.4B, C4.4 ACERT and C6.6 ACERT, the three latest additions to its Stage 3b/Tier 4 interim
industrial engine lineup. The three new
models cover an output band from 45
to 130 k W and are targeted toward
manufacturers of agricultural, construction, material handling and general industrial equipment.
The new C3.4B engine has ratings
from 45 to 86 k W and torque to 420
Nm. The engine features a common rail
fuel injection system, wastegated turbocharger, aftercooler and is electronically controlled.
The midrange of the three new
engines is the C4.4 ACERT with ratings from 60 to 130 k W. Cat said the
4.4 L, four-cylinder engine has received a significant upgrade and now
provides a 22% increase in power to
130 k W.
CAT LAUNCHES STAGE 3B ENGINES
Depending on the power required, the
C4.4 ACERT is equipped with a single or
series turbocharger and has a newly
designed head, block and common rail
fuel system. The engine has torque outputs to 750 Nm.
Cat also said the single turbocharged
version is intercooled and provides
improved power and torque, while the
series turbo model delivers extra power
density and faster response.
The C6.6 ACERT engine is a 6. 6 L platform delivering 89 to 130 k W with peak
torque up to 825 Nm at low engine speed.
With this torque and low end response,
Cat is positioning this engine for machines
that currently utilize engines over 130 k W.
At the Intermat show in Paris in April,
Cat introduced the two engine models
directly above the new versions — the
C7.1 ACERT (130 to 225 k W) and the
C9.3 ACERT (205 to 305 k W).
Now, with the addition of the C3.4B,
C4.4 ACERT and C6.6 ACERT, Cat’s
Industrial Stage 3b/Tier 4 interim engine
lineup numbers 15 models.
The C3.4B, C4.4 ACERT and C6.6
ACERT engines will begin production
and distribution prior to 2012, the year
that Stage 3b/Tier 4 interim emissions
standards take effect for this power category of engines. The C7.1 ACERT and
C9.3 ACERT will be available prior to
2011, the year that Stage 3b/Tier 4 interim emissions standards take effect for
that power category of engines.
When completely unveiled, Cat said
its Stage 3b/Tier 4 interim industrial
engine lineup will include more than 20
models from 9 to 895 k W. ;
