Ashok Leyland is manufacturing its ultra low entry (ULE) buses for the Delhi
Transport Corp. (DTC) from its new bus body facility at Alwar in the northwestern
state of Rajasthan, India.
The company has had plans to start
delivery of the first 50 ULE buses to the
DTC as part of its Rs 11. 9 billion
(US$247.9 million) contract to supply
875 buses to the corporation within the
current fiscal year.
The company also said it would fulfill
its contract to deliver 5000 buses to var-
ious state and local transport bodies
under the Jawaharlal Nehru National
Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in
2009-10.
