John Deere Power Systems has revised
its extended warranty program for recreational marine customers. The revised warranty will offer eligible marine customers a
five-year/2000-hour extended warranty at
no additional cost, said the company. The
program is applicable to new propulsion
engines installed in newly constructed or
repowered vessels that are not used to generate revenue.
The Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA) has announced its newly
elected officers and board members for
2010. The new officers are President – Ron
Hartzel, Eaton Corp.; President-Elect – John
Kelly Jr., Kelly Generator & Equipment Inc.;
Vice President – Michael Pope, Süd-Chemie
Inc.; Secretary-Treasurer – Debra Laurents,
Cummins Power Generation; and Immediate Past President – Greg Linton, JRS
Custom Fabrication.
Also elected to the board of directors were
Brad Fennel, Chillicothe Metal; Ronald
Schroeder, ASCO Power Technologies; and
Mark Steele, Technology Research Corp.
Westport Innovations Inc. and Volvo
have entered into an agreement under
which Westport will be a Tier 1 development
supplier to Volvo for its heavy-duty natural
gas engines and its associated supply
chain. Under the agreement, Westport will
supply its heavy-duty technology and work
with Volvo to qualify appropriate suppliers.
The natural gas engines are expected to
meet European emissions requirements.
The two companies will share program
development expenses and negotiate further agreements regarding certain elements
of the development program.
Comer Industries has been awarded the
Lombard prize during the fourth edition of the
China Awards presented by the Italy-China
Foundation and other partners, recognizing
Italian companies that best grasp opportunities offered by the Chinese market and to
Chinese companies that have distinguished
themselves in Italy. Comer has operated in
China for more than 20 years with its production and marketing company Comer Industries (Shaoxing) Co. Ltd.
ESCO Corp. has opened its first Australian
entity, ESCO Holdings Pty Ltd. ESCO has had
a licensing agreement with Bradken in
Australia, under which Bradken manufactures
and sells ESCO’s products in Australia. With
the advent of this new enterprise, ESCO has
announced it will not re-sign the agreement,
which will expire at the end of June 2011.
Johan Nienaber has been named director of
sales, Australia, and is charged with developing ESCO’s business in the region. Prior to
ESCO, Nienaber served as general manager –
Mining for CQMS of Brisbane, Australia.
