Perkins Engines has unveiled the 2200 Series, a range of 13 L, turbo- charged and air-to-air aftercooled,
electronically controlled diesel engines,
specifically targeted at stationary applications such as generator sets used in
standby and prime power uses, as well as
applications in the oil and gas industry.
All are water-cooled, inline, six-cylinder, turbocharged and air-to-air
charge cooled diesel engines, available
for both 50 and 60 Hz gen-set applications. The 2200 Series builds off of
Perkins 2000 Series design legacy and
includes A, C and D versions. The
engines are all direct injection with
mechanically operated unit fuel injectors, with electronic control combined
with matched turbocharging. The
engines have governing to ISO 85228-5
Class G2 with isochronous capability.
The 50 Hz range covers 350 to 450
kVA, while the 60 Hz models cover 320 to

400 k We. The A engines are targeted for
unregulated markets, while the C engines
are EU2007 Stage 2 certified/1/2 TA Luft
capable. The D versions of the 2200 are
EPA Tier 3 certified, Perkins said.
The new engine line is marketed
under Perkins’ Electropak brand name
and built in Stafford, England. The 50 Hz
versions include four models: the 2206-
E13TAG2; 2206A-E13TAG3; 2206C-
E13TAG2 and 2206C-E13TAG3. The
four 60 Hz engines are the 2206A-
E13TAG5; 2206A-E13TAG6; 2206D-
E13TAG2 and 2206D-E13TAG3.
The 2200 diesels join the 15 L 2500
Series and the 18 L 2800 engine families in
Perkins stationary power market range. ;
